Dr. Santosh Kumar Jha is a distinguished Associate Professor, Crafts Product Designer, and award-winning action-researcher with a PhD in Cultural Studies (Dynamics of Product Designing in Flexible Brass Craft of Belaguntha in Odisha). His career spans over two decades of expertise in sustainable natural-material engineering, indigenous crafts, and design education policy. As a prolific author and session chair, he has significantly contributed to the research and documentation of traditional craft forms in South Asia. His technical mastery encompasses a vast array of crafts, materials, and research skills, leading to multiple patents and international design jury roles. Dr. Jha’s visionary leadership includes founding initiatives to support global artists during COVID'19 Lockdowns, and mentoring students to prestigious international accolades. A recipient of numerous honors, including the "Best Faculty Award" and international exhibition wins, his influence is globally recognised. He has served in pivotal government roles, shaping national design legislation, and institutional foundational frameworks in India and in Sri Lanka. His scholarly impact is further solidified through extensive publications as solo-authored books, peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and roles on international editorial boards. Currently, he continues to bridge the gap between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetics.
