Description
Located in Futian, Shenzhen, China, this project was retrofitted from an idle high-rise office building. Opened in 2025, it is downtown Shenzhen's first vertical elderly care benchmark and Asia's first premium urban-core high-rise senior community.
It serves as a global model for transforming stock assets into urban senior living in dense cities. Facing high vacancy rates and rapid aging, it pioneered the "Vertical Urban Neighborhood" concept, reshaping the 100-meter tower into a 3D senior-friendly space while earning WELL and LEED Double Gold certifications.
As a rare global case of systematically retrofitting a 100m+ tower into senior housing, it subverts the traditional "asset-heavy, horizontal expansion" logic. Centered on a "Vertical Urban Neighborhood," it shows unique value in spatial reshaping, dynamic microclimate intervention, and upholding human dignity. Moving beyond mere technical adaptation, this human-centric neighborhood fulfills seniors' desire to stay in the city, sustaining urban ecology and maximizing life quality, while offering a valuable "Chinese Solution" for asset revitalization in aging cities.
